FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
When do you ship iris and daylilies?
We accept presale orders February through September.
Bearded, Japanese, and Louisiana iris rhizomes are dug and shipped late July through September. This timing aligns with their natural post-bloom growth cycle and allows for optimal establishment.
Daylilies are shipped as healthy divisions during appropriate planting windows beginning in May. All plants are field-grown and carefully prepared prior to shipment.
Why do you ship iris in late summer?
Tall bearded iris complete their bloom cycle in late spring and early summer. After flowering, they enter an active root growth phase as new increases develop.
Transplanting during late July through September allows the rhizome to:
• Establish new roots before winter
• Anchor properly in the soil
• Initiate strong growth for the following bloom season
Shipping earlier in the bloom cycle can interrupt energy allocation and reduce establishment success. Late-summer transplanting is the standard practice among experienced growers for long-term plant performance.
Are your varieties labeled?
Yes. All cultivars are carefully labeled and maintained true to name. Accurate identification is a priority in our field production and division process.
What should I expect when my order arrives?
Iris are shipped bare root as clean, healthy rhizomes. Foliage is trimmed to reduce moisture loss and shipping stress. Rhizomes are inspected prior to packing.
Daylilies are shipped as healthy field divisions.
Plant promptly upon arrival for best results.
What does “Re” mean in a variety name?
“Re” designates a reblooming cultivar. Rebloom performance depends on climate, sunlight, and growing conditions. In favorable conditions, reblooming varieties may produce additional flowering later in the growing season.
Do you guarantee your plants?
We carefully inspect and prepare all plants prior to shipment. If there is an issue with your order upon arrival, please contact us promptly so we can address it appropriately.
